David Ernest Fruechte, 48, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 11th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 3:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
David E. Fruechte was born on July 16, 1960 in Waukon the son of Ernest and Lorna (Herman) Fruecte. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. David graduated from Waukon High School in 1979 and later attended NEICC in Peosta, IA, for one year studying marketing. While still in High School he started to work at IPLA sales barn and continued to work there until 1986. Since 1987 David has owned and operated Dave's Enterprises in Waukon.
David was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was active as an usher and had served on the Board of Deacons and the Parish Council. David enjoyed music, playing his keyboard and listening to music from the 70's and 80's, as well as big band sounds He also restored furniture.
Survivors include his mother, Lorna Fruechte a brother Donald Fruechte, both of Waukon; three uncles Richard Frechte and George Herman, both of Waukon, and Karl Herman, of Clinton, IA. He is preceded in death by his father Ernest Fruechte.
Honorary casketbearers are Ben Quillin and Roy Wandling. Casketbearers are Jim Welch, Steve Bakke, Kenny Baumler, Don Kruse, Allen Goeke and Cletus Rooney.
