David J. Burg, 60, of Decorah, IA, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, at his home in Decorah. Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 7th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, IA, with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.
David Joseph Burg was born October 11, 1953, in Waukon, IA, the son of Aloysius Peter and Ivona Catherine (Greisch) Burg. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, attended St. Patrick Catholic School, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1971. Dave also attended Winona State University in Winona, MN. On October 15, 1977, he married Nancy Schoh at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Eitzen, MN. They had two children and later divorced. Dave worked for Burg Implement Dealership in Waukon and later for Burg's Home and Agri Center in Decorah, IA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins and silver, reading history books, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children: Kristin (Dan) Muszalski of Chicago, IL, and Steven (Amanda) Burg of Waukon; two grandchildren: Leon Burg and Nolan Muszalski; four brothers: Phil (Barbara) Burg of Pardeeville, WI, Paul (Jeannie) Burg, Mike Burg, and Joe Burg, all of Decorah; one sister Mary (Michael) O'Hara of Decorah; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary casketbearers are Dave's brothers and sister.
