Darrell J. Bistodeau, 65, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. A visitation time to greet the family will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Memorials may be given in Darrell's name to the Humane Society or your organization of choice.
Darrell John Bistodeau was born in Elk River, MN, on January 21, 1944, the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Milless) Bistodeau. On November 7, 1981, he married Jaerdis Tilleraas. They resided in Brooklyn Center, MN, for many years before retiring to Waukon, IA, in 2006. Darrell was a millwright by trade and a former member of the Twin City Carpenters & Joiners Union Local 548. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and making cutting boards.
Survivors include his wife Jaerdis and special feline friend Suzy; son Christopher (Cheryl), daughters Yvonne Maas, Betsy Bistodeau, Erica (John) Vickerman, Collette (Andre Epps) Bistodeau, and Jacquelyn (Tim) Fabel; brother Robert (Debbie); sisters Rene (Roger) Spears, Mona (Fred) Lukat, Shelley (Daniel) Secord and Annette Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Judith (Verdayne) Melbostad and Jeannine (David) Zimmerman; brothers-in-law Terry (Jan L) Tilleraas, Truman (Jan G) Tilleraas, Trygve (Rose) Tilleraas and Troy (Niki) Tilleraas; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lyle, Richard and David.
