Danny Kiley

Danny J. Kiley, 47, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28th, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Waukon, IA, with Pastor Duane Smith and Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, IA. Friends may call from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Danny Jo Kiley was born October 4, 1970, in La Crosse, WI, the son of Debra (Goettel) Kiley and Larry Ferring. He attended Waukon, IA, schools and later received his GED. Dan was a carpenter for a variety of places in the area and was capable of building, installing, or fixing most anything. He was very proud of his business Kiley Construction. On June 24, 2000, he married Shawn Peterson at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA; they later divorced.

Dan was a very personable guy, always having a hug and smile for everyone, calling them by their name, and willing to help anyone out. Quite the jokester, his smile and laugh could brighten a room. An avid sportsman, he loved deer hunting and collecting sheds, camping, and playing pool, softball, and bean bags; he also liked animals. Mostly, Dan loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons: Derrick Anderson, Sean Byrnes of Waukon, IA, and Wyatt and Johnathan Kiley of Harpers Ferry, IA, his parents Steve and Deb Kiley of Harpers Ferry; brother Jared Kiley of Harpers Ferry; sister Sarah (Kurt) Gruetzmacher of Grafton, WI; a half-brother Rick Ferring of Lansing, IA; grandmothers Pat Barrick of Humboldt, IA, and Winnie Ferring of Lansing; former wife Shawn Kiley of Harpers Ferry; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by a sister Karianne Marie Kiley; biological father Larry Ferring; half-brother Ron Ferring; and grandparents: John and Dorothy Goettel, George Ferring, Don Kiley, and Roy Nygaard.

Honorary casketbearers are Rick Ferring, John Burrett, Jesse Fish, John Hillesheim, Andrew Kline, Jeremy Kolsrud, Trent Mitchell, Dave Shogren, and Dan Heffern (deceased). Casketbearers are Terry Miller, Ross Ellefson, Brian "Moose" McKee, Andy Shogren, Chris Strub, David Cooper, Jeff Hamm, and Eric Weymiller.
