We would have loved to tell you more about Dad, but we used up all our space listing his incredibly large family! HaHa – Gotcha Dad!
Cy began working at J.F. Brennan Company as a crane operator in 1966, and later obtained his pilot's license to also drive tugs, moving equipment barges up and down the river. He truly loved what he did and was very proud of his incredible skills with the crane. He would boast that he could thread a needle with it. Cy easily earned the respect of all of his coworkers and has been missed since his retirement in September of 2012. He was a devoted employee for almost all of those 44 years...but we all have our days!
Fishing has been a huge part of Cy's life from an early age and after his retirement, he was able to spend unlimited time with his first love...the river (according to Patty). Commercial fishing is in the Mohn blood and Cy's happy place was on the river raising nets, running trotlines, checking box traps, helping Ralph and Joe with seine hauls, or harassing Vickie at the fish market.
If Cy wasn't on the river or watching the river out his living room window, he and Patty could be found at the grandkids' activities. You could always count on them being there to cheer on all the kids and it was an added bonus if Grandpa found a way to embarrass them. Cy's love of his family was evident in everything he did and "Grandpa Cereal" will be dearly missed.
Cy will be remembered by all as a great man with the best sense of humor. His superpower was making people laugh and everybody who met him walked away with a funny story to tell. Though our hearts are heavy, we can take comfort in the knowledge that Dad's was a life well lived.
Cy's grandchildren will serve as urnbearers.
