Colette M. Thesing, 72, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at her home in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon where there will be a 4:00 pm scripture service.
Colette Mary (Kaczorowski) Thesing was born May 3, 1940 in Winona, MN, the daughter of Joseph S. and Florence (Pellowski) Kaczorowski. She attended St. Stanislaus grade school and Cotter High School both in Winona. On January 18, 1958 she married James Edward Thesing at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona. They farmed and milked cows in Lewiston and Lanesboro, MN. Colette and Jim moved with their family to Waukon in 1972, and Jim went to work for the Collins family on their farms. Colette worked as a cook in Dorchester, at the Landmark in rural Waukon and the Riv Aire in Lansing. Her weekends were filled with family activities.
Colette was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Allamakee County Farm Bureau and Allamakee County Historical Society. She was a master gardener, drove for the Amish and enjoyed baking for her family and also selling her bake goods at the local Farmers Market in Waukon.
Survivors include her children, Monica Thesing St. Paul, MN, Tom Thesing of Dorchester, IA, Tim (Christa) Thesing of Monroe, WI, Donna (Greg) Brink of Waukon, Theresa (Fidel) Moncada of Waterloo, IA, Patty Livingston of Almena, WI, Neil (Corlis) Thesing of Oakdale, MN, Andy (Sherri) Thesing of Dorchester, IA, Mary Beth Thesing of Decorah, IA, Lori Anne Reyes of Waukon, Jim Joe Thesing of Dorchester and Jennifer (Jose) Sanchez of Richfield, MN; her beloved 20 grandchildren, Nathan, Heather, Joshua, Brandon, Ceisha, Ceirra, Christina, Dayton, Tyler, Tanner, Trent, Haylee, Heather, Melony, Louis, Soraya, Eden, Alexander, Esteban and Jair Josef; 2 brothers, Joseph Kaczoroski and Leonard Kaczorowski both of Winona, MN; and a sister, Carol Warnke of Faribault, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James who died in 2010; a son, Patrick Thesing and a granddaughter, Karla Thesing.
Honorary casketbearers are Allamakee County Farm Bureau Women. Casketbearers are Andy, Jim Joe, Neil, Tim and Tom Thesing, Greg Brink, Fidel Moncada and Jose Sanchez.
