Clay Michael Kramer

January 22, 1982 — March 15, 2013

Clay M. Kramer, 31, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Waukon, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a stroke. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21st, at 11:00 AM at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, both in rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon and an hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church. A memorial fund in Clay's memory has been established to benefit several charities to be determined at a later date.

Clay Michael Kramer was born January 22, 1982 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Michael Joseph and Rebecca Susan Meyer Kramer. He graduated from Waukon High School with the Class of 2000 and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Clay was currently a student at Kirkwood Community College studying computer information systems. He also worked at Hardees Restaurant in Cedar Rapids and Whirlpool.


Clay loved to read and especially enjoyed spending time and playing cards with his family during the holidays. He liked to discuss politics, world events and sports. Clay played the trumpet in several Waukon High School bands and he earned the rank of Eagle Scout while a member of Waukon Boy Scout Troop 64. Clay gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. The lives of numerous people will be made better as a result of his gift. He was greatly loved and will be truly missed.

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Becky Kramer and a brother, Will Kramer, all of Waukon; his paternal grandmother, Rozella Kramer of Waterloo; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cloy and Bonnie Meyer and his paternal grandfather, John Kramer.
