Chris E. Mirich, 42, formerly of Waukon, IA, died unexpectedly on the evening of Saturday, July 1, 2023. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 15th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday in the church sanctuary. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
Christopher Ely Mirich was born July 9, 1980, in Reno, NV, the second son of George Budd and Sharleen Michele (Porter) Mirich. He graduated from high school in La Feria, TX, in 1999. He attended Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, TX, and Houston Community College in Houston, TX, until 2004.
In 2008, Chris moved to Des Moines, IA, where he met his best friend and the love of his life, Jill Kistler. Together, they moved to Waukon, IA, in 2010. At the time of his death, Chris was working as a compounder at Norplex-Micarta in Postville, IA.
Chris was a kind-spirited "gentle giant", known for his love of animals, huge heart, contagious laugh, and loyalty to those he loved.
Chris is survived by his "Cutie", Jill Kistler, of Waukon, IA; his brother Mason Mirich (Krystal Gaytan) of Harlingen, TX; father and mother-in-law Dick and Evonne Kistler of Waukon, IA; sister-in-law Erin (Chad) Davis of Urbandale, IA; sister-in-law Angie (Jason) Bohnstengel of Minnesota City, MN; nieces Madeline Davis and Kelsey Davis of Urbandale, IA; nephew Jacob Bohnstengel of Minnesota City, MN; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by both his parents and will be dearly missed.
Honorary urnbearers are Jason Bohnstengel, Chad Davis, Weston King, and Steve Quick.
