Charles "Chuck" Edward Weipert

Charles E. Weipert, 74, of Waterville, IA, died Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home in rural Waterville. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 9th, from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Open Door to the Soul (formerly the Waterville Lutheran Church) in Waterville. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Waterville Lutheran Cemetery. Martin – Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Charles Edward Weipert was born May 16, 1949, in Waukon, IA, the son of Robert Francis and Mary Louise (Johnson) Weipert. He was baptized and confirmed at Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville, IA, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1967. Chuck served in the US Navy from 1967 – 1971, and was in the Naval Reserve from 1981 – 2002, with the NMCB 25 unit out of La Crosse, WI. In 1971, he married Monica Troendle; they divorced in 1980. In 1981, he married Barbara Schlitter. Chuck worked for the Allamakee Secondary Road Department in Waterville.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, NRA, and North American Hunting Club. Chuck loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He enjoyed working on model ships, tinkering with everything, and was an animal lover.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of Waterville; his children: Robert Weipert of Prairie du Chien, WI, Joseph Weipert of Waterville, Shawn Weipert of Clarksville, IA, Shannon (James) Weipert Bruns of Calmar, IA, and Austin and Adrian Weipert, both of Waterville; a step-son Michael Monserud of Gilbert, IA; seven grandchildren: Connor, Kerryn, Kelsey, Ean, Ashley, Chloe, and Danielle Weipert; six great-grandchildren: Jasper, Jacobi, Remington, Arihanna, Braxton, and Reggie; a brother Curtis (Linda) Weipert of Humansville, MO; and a sister Peggy (Mike) Broadhead of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Karen Weipert.
