Catherine E. Norton, 90, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 13th at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home where there will be a 4:00 pm scripture service.
Catherine Elizabeth Norton was born June 9, 1917 in the Lycurgus area of rural Lansing, IA. She was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Crehan) Norton. Catherine was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church and attended Lycurgus rural school and graduated from Waukon High School in Normal Training. She taught school in rural Allamakee County for several years. Catherine was a bookkeeper for forty two years for Schultz Brothers Variety Store in Waukon. She enjoyed taking trips to visit her sister Mary Jane in Chicago. They would attend Chicago Cubs games because Catherine was an avid Cubs fan. Catherine's favorite times were spent with her nieces, nephews and their families. She was a wonderful cook and you could always count on having homemade cookies when you would stop by her house. Catherine was very proud of her Irish ancestry. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Pamela Norton of Windsor, WI, Perry (Karen) Norton, Paul Norton, Patrice (Keith) Schulte and Phil (Wendy) Norton all of Waukon; grandnieces and grandnephews, Andrea (Dan) Krause, Brian Norton, Nicole (Luke) Greazel, Natalie Norton, Vanessa, Andrew and Allison Schulte, Tatum and Callie Norton; and her great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, Hannah and Gage Krause, Anna Norton and Rylie Greazel. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Jane Norton; 4 brothers, Joseph, Patrick, Michael and Francis Norton; a sister-in-law, Eunice Norton and a grandniece, Christine Norton.
Honorary casketbearers, are Harold and Arlene Welch, Richard and Ann Schulte and Jim and Charlene Baxter. Casketbearers are Perry, Paul, Phil and Brian Norton, and Keith and Andrew Schulte.
