Carolyn Eileen Mullins Hunstad

Carolyn Eileen (Mullins) Hunstad, 82, of Waukon, IA, formerly various locations throughout the Twin Cities, MN, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 3, 2020, at 1pm at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, MN. Friends may greet the family one hour before and then following services at the church. The burial services for both Carolyn and Donald will be with immediate family at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN. Memorials will be donated to: Nickel Open Fund.

Carolyn Eileen Mullins was born December 2, 1937, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Vernon and Faye Mullins. She graduated from Washburn High School in South Minneapolis. Carolyn then attended The Minneapolis Business College where she met her husband, Donald J. Hunstad. On November 10, 1956, Carolyn married Don at Lake Harriet Christian Church in Minneapolis. Carolyn dedicated her life to raising her family. She owned her own drapery business and worked a few years at Midland Coop. She and Don spent more than 20 years wintering in Sun City West, AZ. Carolyn was a faithful member of Valley View Christian Church in Fridley, MN. She was often taking many of the elderly members of the church to their doctor appointments, running errands for them or just visiting. Another full-time job was being a cheerleader for all of her children's sports and Scouting activities. She mastered the art of shopping, loved perusing various art fairs, was very creative with her many talents of sewing, cooking, stain glass art, dried flowers, decoupage, etc. Her most recent activity which consumed a lot of her time was her miniature houses and shadow box creations.

She is survived by her four children: Dennis (Terri) Hunstad of Waukon, Bruce (Lori) Hunstad of Jordan, MN, Gil (Sherrie) Hunstad of Waukon, and Colleen (Brad) Hagg of Eden Prairie, MN; her grandchildren: Cody (Erika) Hunstad, Hannah Pratt, Ashley (Joey) Cerise, Amanda (Dustin) Smeins, Josh (Stephanie) Hunstad, Caleb Hunstad, Tara (Mike) McMullen, Bianca (Jeff Temte) Hagg, and Sophia Hagg; great-grandchildren: Ryker, Tenley, Italia, Kambria, River, Addie, Brooke, Clayton, Ashton, James, Lily, Jake, and Estelle; one brother: Dean (Irene); and two sisters: Eva Hall and Eloise (Harry) Latshaw. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janet Mullins, her husband Donald, her grandson Nick Hunstad, brother-in-law's Edwin Wright and Warren Hall.

Her grandchildren will serve as honorary casket bearers.
