Carol A. Snitker, 81, of Prairie du Chien, WI, formerly of De Soto, WI, died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Bluff Haven in Prairie du Chien. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Saturday, February 4th, at Thornburg - Grau Funeral Home in Lansing, IA. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing.
Carol Ann Snitker was born December 4, 1941, in the De Soto, WI, area, the daughter of Earl and Geraldine ( Arnold) Wyburn. After graduating from high school in De Soto, Carol completed her schooling at Western Technical College in La Crosse, WI. She married Charles "Chuck" Snitker in Lansing, IA, and Carol spent most of her time taking care of her children. They lived in Lansing for a couple years before moving to Ossian, IA, for about a decade; she and Chuck returned to De Soto after that. Carol was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Red Mound, WI. Later in life, Carol became more of a homebody and loved embroidery, reading murder mysteries, and doing puzzle books.
She is survived by her two children: Tracy (Brenda) Snitker of De Soto and Nicole Lynn (Marvin) Bannister of Richland Center, WI; four grandchildren; and her nieces, nephews, and other family members. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband Chuck in 1993; and her sister Pat (Milan) Kumlin.
