Carlton H. Larsen, 79, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14th, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in rural New Albin, IA, with Pastor Paul Burgess officiating. Burial with military rites will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Carlton Herbert Larsen was born on May 25, 1933 on the rural Waukon, IA, farm of his parents, Herbert Palmer and Clara (Olson) Larsen. He was baptized and confirmed at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church and attended rural Allamakee County elementary school and Waukon High School. From 1953 to 1955 Carlton served in the US Army with an engineer unit spending some of his time in France and Germany. He returned home following his discharge and on October 24, 1956 he married Betty Jean Wild at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in rural New Albin, IA. Carlton worked for a short time in Cedar Rapids and then returned to work at the Waukon Creamery. From 1958 until 1989 he and Betty farmed south of Waukon milking cows and raising beef cattle, hogs, and grain. More recently he has worked at Waukon Equity Co-op driving a fuel truck and doing a variety of other tasks.

Carlton was very active in the community serving as a board member at the Waukon Creamery and on the Allamakee County Fair Board for many years. He was also a member of various dairy organizations and church groups and was currently serving on the Allamakee County Board of Adjustment.

Spending time outdoors was a favorite of Carlton's as he enjoyed fishing, especially annual trips to Boulder Jct., WI, Canada, and Minnesota, as well as hunting, and outings with the Upper Iowa Saddle Club. He also loved to travel and had visited 49 states as well as Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Carlton very much enjoyed meeting with his daily coffee group as well as spending time with his family and following his children's activities.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Waukon; his 4 children and their families: Kevin of Wauzeka, WI, Dick (Sharon) and their children Stacy, Samantha, and Travis also of Wauzeka, Mary (Corky) Keatley of Waukon, and Diane (Steve) Carnesi and their children Jacob and Julia of Decorah, IA; a great-granddaughter Skylan; a sister Janet Snitker and a brother Donald Larsen, both of Waukon; a brother-in-law Bernard (Jean) Snitker of Waukon; and a sister-in-law Clarice Larsen of Lancaster, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Bernice Snitker; a brother Victor Larsen; a brother-in-law David Snitker; and a sister-in-law Sharon Larsen.
