Carl Mullarkey

Carl J. Mullarkey, 94, of Lansing, IA, died Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26th, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford, rural Lansing with Fr. Joseph Sevcik officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in Lansing is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wexford Cemetery.

Carl Joseph Mullarkey was born April 12, 1928, to Mike C. and Mary L. (Brennan) Mullarkey. He attended Wexford school then farmed with his father. On June 6, 1951, Carl married Romona Hawes. A lifelong member of I.C. Parish Wexford, he served as a cemetery trustee for 61 years. Carl enjoyed family, friends, and a good horse.

He is survived by Mona, his wife of 71 years, of Lansing; his children: Sister Kathryn "Connie" Mullarkey FSE of Falls Church, VA, Ray Mullarkey and Theresa (Ron) Heuker, both of Lansing, and Phyllis (Roger) Troendle of Verona, WI; grandchildren: Brian (Sara) Heuker of La Crescent, MN, and Tami (fiancé Rusty Yerokhin) Heuker of La Crosse, WI; brother-in-law Bud (Isabelle) Hawes; and sisters-in-law: Maxine Hawes, Alice (Ray) Woods, and Pat (Jack) Darling.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Willie and Leo (Marcella) Mullarkey; his sisters: Evelyn (Jimmy) Delaney, Leonette (Francis) Kernan, Eleanor (Steve) O'Neill, Marguerite (Joe) Manning, and twin sister Catherine (Dan) Dowd; brothers-in-law: Bill and Bob Hawes; and sisters-in-law: Eleanor (Charlie) Corrigan and Doloras Hawes.

Honorary casketbearers are Mike & Pat Gavin, Dennis Luster, Ozzie Quandahl, John Schueller, and Eric Steirman. Casketbearers are Dan, George, & Pat Delaney, Mike & Ken Manning, and Ray Wagner.
