Bruce Neal Dahlstrom, Sr.

Bruce N. Dahlstrom, Sr., 55, of Waukon, IA, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 28th at 11:00 am at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing, IA, with Rev. Danny Volbrecht officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be held in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Bruce Neal Dahlstrom, Sr., was born on September 7, 1951 in Decorah, IA, the son of Howard and Margaret (Lomen) Dahlstrom. He was baptized at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing. After graduating from Waukon High School in 1970, he served in the National Guard at Ft. Leonard Wood MO. Bruce returned to Waukon to help his father on the family farm in Center Township. On April 21, 1979 he married Patty Ewing at Center Baptist Church. In 1980 he started farming with his brother Gary. Bruce and Patty moved to Waukon in 1990 where he worked for R.W. Pladsen Auto as a mechanic until 1997. Bruce then worked for his brother Gary as a logger. He and Patty operated a daycare business for several years in Waukon. They were later divorced. Bruce also worked in the meat department at Quillins in Waukon.
He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a AWANA Leader, Sunday School Teacher and usher. Bruce loved spending time in the outdoors especially cutting wood, hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, and spending time with his dogs and the farm animals. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends especially children.
Survivors include his children, Bruce, Jr. (Emily) of Decorah, Brandon of Decorah and Bryce of Waukon; his mother, Margaret Dahlstrom of Waterville; 3 sisters, Karen (Gordon) Anderson of Waterville, IA, Elinor (Dan) Emerson and Linda (Jim) Seibert both of Waukon; 2 brothers, Roger (Carol) of Ankeny, IA and Keith (Cathy) of Cedar Rapids, IA and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard; a sister, Sandra and a brother, Gary.
Honorary casketbearers are Bryce Dahlstrom, Dean Jackson, Al Quandahl and Bruce's nieces and nephews. Casketbearers are Bruce Jr., Brandon and Paul Dahlstrom, David Enyart, Jr., Pat Stone and Trevor Seibert.
