Brent Douglas Johnson

Brent D. Johnson, 30, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, November 8, 2019, at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist West Ridge Cemetery in rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, where there will be a 3:30 PM scripture service. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Brent Douglas Johnson was born February 8, 1989, in Decorah, IA, the son of Clint and Dacia (Meyer) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 2007. On June 18, 2011, he married Caitlin Mellick at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Brent worked for Mathis Field Services for a few years before he went to work for the City of Waukon in 2011, starting with water department then with the street department. He also farmed, raising beef cows.

Brent was member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. He enjoyed being in the outdoors especially deer hunting, bow hunting, fishing, and Ranger rides throughout the countryside. Brent also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and helping his daughter Claire with her 4-H show calves.

Survivors include his wife Caitlin of Waukon; his two daughters: Claire and Bentley, both at home; his parents Clint and Dacia Johnson of Waukon; a brother Tanner (Daiton Holstad) Johnson of Waukon; his father and mother-in-law Tom and Laura Mellick of Waukon; his grandparents: Don and Terry Johnson and Dennis and Jane Meyer, all of Waukon; a brother-in-law Dominick (Carli Quandahl) Mellick of Waukon; two sisters-in-law: Carley and Maddie Mellick, both of Waukon; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Casketbearers are Tyler Stortz, Ryan Christensen, Pat Egan, Shawn Lloyd, Garth and Mike Cooper, and Cody Moody.
