Robert (Bobby) Forrest Ryan, 54, of Waukon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 peacefully in his sleep at his home in rural Waukon. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 18th at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Bobby was born in Waukon, Iowa on June 7, 1962, the son of James Forrest and Jean (Hammel) Smock. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and graduated from Waukon High School in 1980.
Bobby owned and operated Bobby Ryan Construction for more than 20 years before previously working at Northeast Iowa Sales Commission and Interstate Producers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, team roping on his favorite horse Hammer, spending time with family and friends, watching the Hawkeyes and Packers, and most of all enjoyed taking care of his livestock with his Uncle Pat.
Bobby is survived by his three children, Jessica Everman, and her husband Blair (Waukon), Austin Ryan (North Liberty, Iowa) of former spouse Beth Bunge, and Tate Ryan (Waukon) of former spouse M'Liss Burrier. Two grandchildren, Rosalie and Weston Everman; his mother Jean Smock and her husband Bruce Bearwald (Brownsville Minnesota); three brothers: Randy Ryan and his wife Debra (Ankeny, Iowa), Greg and his wife Kristy (Marble Falls, Texas), Gary and his wife Michelle (Eden Prairie, Minnesota); three sisters Deb Ryan and her husband Mike Quam (Waukon), Donna Mahr and her husband Ray (Waukon), Diane Sommer and her husband James (Geneseo, Illinois); and his step-mother Mary Ann Ryan (Waukon). He is preceded in death by his father James.
Honorary casketbearers are Daric Steiber, Jason Sommer, Lee Carlson, Luke Carlson, and Cody Massman.
