William "Bill" J. Walsh, 82, of Waukon, IA, died Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 5th, at 11:00 AM at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. A gathering for friends and family of Bill will be held at the Sweeney Shelter in the park following the graveside service on Tuesday. Refreshments will be served. Martin – Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.
William James Walsh was born March 5, 1941, in Waukon, IA, the son of Ray and Alice (Plein) Walsh. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School, graduated from Waukon High School, and served in the United States Navy from 1959 - 1963. Bill drove bus for Hawkeye Stages, served as a deputy sheriff for Allamakee County, and worked for the Allamakee County maintenance department. On February 5, 1973, he married Doris Winters Clark in West Union, IA. He enjoyed going for rides with Doris and going to coffee at Hardees with their friends.
Survivors include three sons: William R. (Jeannie) Walsh of Lansing, IA, Steve (Jenny) Clark of Waukee, IA, and Brian (Shelly) Clark of Riverside, IA; four grandchildren: Cameron and Isabella Clark, Melissa Giess, and Daniel Walsh; four great-grandchildren: Lexi and Aubery Giess and Maggie and Gabe Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris in 2021; and a sister Shirley and her husband Bill Hosch.
