Betty L. Zieons, 90, of Waukon, IA, formerly of Des Moines, IA, died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Waukon. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 21st, at 1:00 PM in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orillia, IA. Martin – Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.
Betty Lue Zieons was born May 5, 1932, in Missouri, the daughter of Rollie J. and Delcie (Golden) Warrington in Humphrey, MO. On September 10, 1951, she married Duane Lindley; they had three children. Duane died in 1984. When her kids were young, she stayed at home to raise them; after they got older, Betty worked at nursing homes and did home healthcare in the Des Moines area. On July 25, 1992, she married Frank Zieons in Ankeny, IA; Frank died in 2004. Betty moved to Waukon in 2011 to be closer to her family and has been a resident at the Good Samaritan Society since October of 2021.
She enjoyed reading, singing, and embroidery. Betty also liked shopping at thrift stores and going to garage sales to search for treasures and a good deal. Mostly, Betty loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters: Terri Lindley of Postville, IA, and Sheila (Wayne) Nagel of Ostrander, MN; six grandchildren: Shawn (Cathy) Nagel, Crystal Leff, Jessica Naylor, Josh Lindley, Ashley (Jason) Barnes, and Brittany Lindley-Chen; 14 great-grandchildren; and one on the way; a brother Fred Jansson; two sisters: Carol and Mary Jansson; a brother-in-law Tom Owen's; and a sister-in-law Ruth Ann Warrington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son Richard D. Lindley; Harold and Zatha Swanson, who raised her; and two great-granddaughters: Hanna and Katelin Leff and their father Carl Leff; two sisters: Naomi Owen's and Laura Grabill; and a brother Frank Warrington.
