Betty L. Timmerman, 83, of Lansing, IA, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, IA, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Betty Lou Timmerman was born March 13, 1932, in rural Lansing, IA, the daughter of Daniel and Ada (Bolsinger) Spores. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lansing and attended Lansing schools. She worked at the Toy Company and Button Factory both in Lansing. On June 2, 1956 she married Delbert Timmerman at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Betty and Delbert lived in Cedar Rapids, IA, for several years where she worked for a janitorial company. In 1978 they moved back to the Lansing area, she was a cook at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Betty also worked at the Button Factory and did some housekeeping for Gunderson Clinic in Lansing.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Betty enjoyed cooking, canning, working in her garden, playing cards, marbles and watching birds especially humming birds. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Delbert Timmerman of Lansing; her children: Bob (Mary) Timmerman of Waukon, Delbert Jr. "Tim" (Brenda) Timmerman of Waukon, and Craig (Darcey) Timmerman of Spring Grove, MN; eight grandchildren: Ryan, Tiffany, Josh, Christian, Keisha, Amanda, David and Maleki; nine great-grandchildren: Jade, Porter, Amelia, Hazel, Isaiah, Farren, Isadore, Finneas, and Lily; a sister Barb Miller of La Crosse, WI; a sister-in-law Arlene Yearous of Waukon. She is preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons: Daniel and Shane Timmerman; a brother Herman Spores; four sisters: Margaret Gaulthier, Kate Meyer, Mildred Weipert and Evelyn Bublitz.
Honorary casketbearers are Betty's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casketbearers are Ryan, Josh, and Christian Timmerman, Roger and Kevin Bublitz, and Brian Manning.
