Betty Lorraine Fox

Betty L. Fox, 79, of New Albin, IA, died Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19th, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. Joseph Sevcik officiating. Burial will be at Victory Cemetery in Victory, WI. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday at the New Albin Community Center, where there will be a 6:00 PM scripture service. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in Lansing, IA, is handling arrangements.

Betty Lorraine Fox was born June 24, 1943, in Viroqua, WI, the daughter of Louie and Belva Best. She attended school in Victory and later received her GED. On May 25, 1968, she married Verdell Milton Fox in Victory, WI. They lived in Gays Mills, WI, until they moved to New Albin, IA, in 2005. Betty worked at Northern Engraving in Lansing, IA, for 25 years before she went to work at Walmart in Prairie du Chien, WI, where she worked until she retired in 2013.

Betty loved spending time with her family and going camping. Her calmer side enjoyed watching western movies and reading, while her spunky side enjoyed beating her grandkids at cards.

Survivors include her husband Verdell of New Albin; her children: Rita (Matthew) Mooney of New Albin and Kevin (Thomas Murphy) Fox of Eau Claire, WI; two grandchildren: Johnathan and Heather Mooney; and a sister-in-law Ileen Odegaarden of La Crescent, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Sherry Fox.

Casketbearers are Matthew and Johnathan Mooney, Thomas Murphy, Jim Erbe, Spencer Colsch, and Dwayne Webb.
