Barbara Ann Homewood

Barbara A. Homewood, 58, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 28th , at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser  officiating. Friends may call one hour before the services Saturday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.


Barbara Ann Homewood was born February 7, 1958, in Spring Grove, MN, the daughter of Clifford J. and Anna Laura (Appleman) Homewood. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Methodist Church in Dorchester, IA. Barbara graduated from Waukon High School in 1976, and graduated from Spencer School of Business in 1978, in Spencer, IA. She worked for Gundersen Lutheran Medical Clinics throughout Northeast Iowa as a medical transcriptionist.


Barbara was a very active member of the Waukon Lions Club and LEOS where she held several offices. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, collecting things, following the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Barbara also enjoyed taking care of her dog Honey Puppy.


Survivors include two sisters: Cheryl Piper of Rockwell, IL, and Diane (Fred) Kroshus of Spring Grove, MN; two brothers: Larry (Carolyn) Homewood of Waukon, and Dennis (Jeanie) Homewood of Dorchester; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.


Honorary casketbearers are all of Barbara's friends.
