Anita Marie Welch

Anita M. Welch, 89, of La Crosse, WI, formerly of Waukon, IA, died Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Eagle Crest South in La Crosse. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 26th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Paulraj Sellam officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery, in rural Waukon. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church on Wednesday. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.

Anita Marie Welch was born on February 18, 1936, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Leo and Anna (Laughlin) Welch. She attended country grade school and graduated from St. Patrick High School in Waukon as valedictorian.

Upon graduating high school, she began work as a secretary in Dubuque, IA, before moving to her lifelong home in Minneapolis. MN, where she worked in a variety of positions including as leasing agent for a large chain of shopping malls. In retirement, Anita volunteered at the community theater and local food pantry.

Anita enjoyed national and international traveling, music and the arts, entertaining guests, and anything Irish. She hosted her annual St. Patrick Day's party for 40 years.

Surviving are her sisters: Elaine (Jack) Kaufman of Sun City, AZ, and Sister Mary Leanne (Yvonne) Welch of Dubuque; her brother Denis (Marlene) Welch of Waukon; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Donna (Bob) Ritter, and brother Wayne.
