Angela was born January 21, 1943, at The Sherman House in Waukon, IA, to Clarence and Alvina (Nagel) Klocke. She was raised in Ludlow Township and was a lifetime member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in rural Postville, IA, where she was baptized and confirmed. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1960. Angela worked at numerous jobs in the Waukon and Postville areas including at the S&D Cafe, Model Cafe, Waters Dairy, Olson Jewelry, Schroeder Insurance, and Aver Bar before moving to Cedar Rapids, IA. She was employed by United Fire and Casualty Insurance and later Kula Construction. Angela married John Kula in 1969. Together they formed a business, Kula Construction, doing remodeling, repair, and miscellaneous handy work. They were later divorced in 2003.
Angela was always helping others and took special pride in caring for World War II vets. She also loved entertaining elderly people that had limited family, having them over to her home for meals on holidays and special occasions. After the Cedar Rapids "Flood of 2008" Angela worked on homes and refinished furniture for flood victims. There didn't seem to be a repair job she couldn't take on. She was hard working, thrifty, and talented.
Angela was an avid sports enthusiast and devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball teams. #1 on her list of other interests was fishing; Angela never tired of casting her line for "The Big One". The same applied to the lottery; she liked those scratch tickets and they paid off a few times for her. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, going for drives with friends, and raising a multitude of dogs and cats including Herky, Rolaid, and Puss Puss.
Angela was well known for her famous pickles, perfected from her mother Alvina's recipe. She supplied pickles to many customers in the Cedar Rapids area and always seemed to have some ready for friends and family. Never having children of her own, Angela shared her mothering with her nieces, nephews and pets. Her laughter will linger with each of them in days ahead.
Angela is survived by sisters: Darlene (Neil) Barth of Waukon, Carol Wieland of Cedar Rapids, and Linda Thompson of Waterville, IA; along with numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends including former husband John Kula of Cedar Rapids and special friend Jerry Mathis of Waterville. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alvina Klocke; sister Hazel Rissman; brother Niel Klocke; brothers in-law Harvey Rissman and Robert Thompson; nephews Troy Thompson and Timothy Klocke; and great-nephew Adam Rissman.
Honorary casketbearers are Kathy Bunner, Gregg Klocke, Gloria Krambeer, Kristine McMahan, and Tara Reisinger. Casketbearers are Randy and Reg Klocke, Pat Reisinger, Barry Bunner, Steve Kummer, and Wayne and Allan Rissman.
